Open enrollment for summer and fall starts Thursday, March 21st.
Diakonia (Greek for service) is a tax-exempt non-profit that operates three Colorado Springs preschools. Our commitment is to provide the highest-quality learning experience to ALL children. Our programs are developmentally appropriate, focusing on each young child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth in a loving, nurturing environment. Our primary goal is to ensure that each child who completes our preschool program develops the skills necessary to successfully enter and succeed in the public-school system. To that end, we provide a preschool experience that is second to none!
Diakonia Preschools build strong foundations for school readiness by providing each child with opportunities for meaningful play through the use of centers customized for the child’s individual needs, favorite pursuits, abilities and challenges.
Mission Statement: Diakonia serves families to enable children to reach their full potential.
Vision Statement: Every child becomes a productive member of their communities.
Values: Involvement, Commitment, Compassion, Excellence (ICCE)
We foster wholesome social relationships — and healthy ways of being in the world — by providing ample time for children to interact with their peers — learning empathy, sharing, self-regulation and cooperation.
Visit the Curriculum page to find out more about the creative learning materials we use to build such skills as handwriting, math literacy, phonics and reading, and to promote the enjoyment of healthy eating and exercise habits.
We offer a sliding scale tuition assistance program based on family income and number of family members.
Diakonia’s work is supported through donations and grants provided by many foundations and individuals, many local other nonprofits as well as the City of Colorado Springs four community centers where our four neighborhood preschools are based — Westside, Hillside, Deerfield Hills and New Summit Charter Academy . We also operate a faith-based preschool at Wilson United Methodist Church.
We have tried to provide all the materials you will need to register your children for preschool, but we know you will still have a lot of questions. Please feel free to visit the schools, and call or email us using the information provided on the Contact Us page.
